A simple glossary for common InkPlay terms such as branch, Controller, Local Node, Agent, session, package, display, and player account.

What do the common InkPlay terms mean?

New staff can read the wiki without getting stuck on product words that have specific meanings inside InkPlay.

Before you start

  • Use this guide when onboarding staff or reading a manual for the first time.
  • Keep branch-specific names such as PC labels and staff roles documented separately.

Core system terms

These terms describe the main parts of the InkPlay system and where they fit in a venue.

  • Branch: one physical venue or operating location inside InkPlay.
  • Controller: the staff workspace used to run branch operations.
  • Local Node: the branch runtime service that supports local Controller and Agent work.
  • Agent: the software installed on player PCs to show the player shell and follow branch session state.

Operation terms

These terms appear in daily staff work, cashier questions, and reports.

  • Session: active playtime on a PC or station.
  • Package: a predefined amount of time or value staff can sell or apply.
  • Recharge: adding time, value, or balance to a player or session.
  • Shift: a cashier or staff work period used for accountability.

Customer and display terms

These terms describe player-facing surfaces and public screens.

  • Player account: a reusable identity for balances, activity, QR login, and return visits.
  • QR login: a phone-assisted login flow that still resolves through the branch session path.
  • TV display: a customer-facing screen paired to a branch, station, console area, or promotion surface.

Verify it worked

  • Staff can distinguish Controller from Agent.
  • Staff understand that player accounts are not the same as staff accounts.
  • The team uses the same names for sessions, packages, recharges, and displays.

Troubleshooting

Staff use different names for the same action.

Use this glossary during training and align venue-specific labels with the Controller setup pages.

A customer asks what the mobile app controls.

Explain mobile as a player companion for identity, QR login, requests, and activity, not as a staff control app.
