Run cashier shifts
Use shifts to make cashier responsibility, opening balance, closing review, and handoff clearer.
Each cashier period has a clear start, handoff, and close process that owners and supervisors can review.
Before you start
- Create staff accounts for cashiers.
- Decide whether the branch tracks cash by staff shift.
- Train staff on opening and closing expectations.
Open the shift
Opening a shift gives the cashier a clear operating window. This is especially useful when more than one person works at the counter.
- Open the shift before selling sessions or counter items.
- Record the starting cash amount if the venue uses cash tracking.
- Check dashboard readiness before serving customers.
Work during the shift
During a shift, staff should keep sales, sessions, recharges, and unusual cases tied to the active cashier context.
- Use the Controller for paid time, store items, debts, and player actions.
- Avoid sharing another cashier login.
- Record notes when a manual correction is needed.
Close and hand off
Closing gives supervisors a chance to review totals, unresolved cases, and next-shift notes.
- Close at the end of the cashier period.
- Review expected totals and important exceptions.
- Tell the next staff member about active sessions and unresolved requests.
Verify it worked
- Cashier sales and session actions are tied to the right staff period.
- Staff can open and close shifts without owner help.
- Handoff notes include active sessions and unusual cases.
Troubleshooting
Sales are recorded under the wrong person.
Stop sharing logins and require each cashier to open their own shift.
A shift cannot close cleanly.
Review active sessions, unresolved transactions, and any manual corrections before closing.
